From 1 July 2026, lawyers, accountants, conveyancers, real estate agents and trust and company service providers providing designated services became AUSTRAC reporting entities. If you automate any part of your AML process with AI, you remain accountable for every decision it makes.
If you’re a reporting entity under the AML/CTF Act, the Privacy Act now applies to personal information you handle for AML purposes, even if your turnover is under $3 million. The OAIC estimates over 100,000 small businesses are affected.
